As a proud Detroiter, Eric was at the lowest point in his life which began after being laid off from work, which rocked his world. At the time, he was making a comfortable 6-figure income and on his way to a successful career.
In the aftermath of losing his job, he gained a tremendous amount of weight, which eclipsed over 500 pounds, and fell into a bad state of depression. The excessive weight led to the joints in his knees and left hip going bad, relegating him to using crutches for 5 ½ years and taking a tremendous toll on him physically, mentally, and spiritually.
There was one simple question Eric needed to answer - did he want to live or die? He chose life! After receiving gastric bypass surgery, double knee replacements, left hip replaced, emergency knee infection removal surgery, and countless hours of physical therapy, he knew it was finally time to really put the work in to lose the weight and begin a healthy way of living.
He began the tedious road of getting his life back and became focused and dedicated to reaching his goal weight. He began attending the Livonia Rec Center allowing nothing to hold him back. He started logging his meals and workouts, which was a pain at first, but it became a consistent habit that led to small success, then bigger success. He listened to sermons, motivational speakers, and music to keep the fire burning.
Because he knew that he was born with a higher purpose than the situation he found himself in, he was determined to dig deep to discover why he was placed on this earth. After successfully losing over 300 pounds, Eric has been sharing his inspirational testimony on the radio, on podcast interviews, in motivational speeches, and during book signings, one of which he was commended by the mayor for his amazing diligence and influence on the community.
